Mice were assessed for respiratory parameters at baseline and then again after methacholine (MCh) challenge using two different techniques in two cohorts: 1) unrestrained plethysmograph technique (BUXCO), given MCh doses of 5, 10, and 20 mg/mL; 2) anesthetized forced oscillation technique (FlexiVent), given MCh doses of 1, 3, 10, and 30 mg/mL . The "MCh response index" is the average slope of the MCh challenge series (see protocol for details).

Procedures conducted:
• plethysmography  Lung, respiratory function. Baseline vs. methacholine-challenged (several doses).
• ventilator  Lung, respiratory function. Anesthetized forced oscillation. Baseline vs. methacholine-challenged (several doses).
