F1 crosses were produced between male C57BL/6J mice heterozygous for the null allele of Tcf7l2 and wild-type females from 30 inbred laboratory strains. This gene is among the most strongly associated and best replicated genetic risk factors for type 2 diabetes. It has also been associated with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. The generalizability of Tcf7l2 +/- physiological and behavioral phenotypes was evaluated using these 30 genetic backgrounds. Data for +/+ and +/- littermates are summarized graphically here.
