Acclimation & testing periods

Vendor Mice were obtained from The Jackson Laboratory (JAX®), Bar Harbor ME, USA) except for the following strains and stocks: 129S6/SvEvTac and Black Swiss (Taconic, Germantown NY, USA); C3H/HeNHsd and CD-1 (Charles River, Wilmington MA, USA); and NIH Swiss (Harlan, Indianapolis IN, USA).
Acclimation Mice were allowed to acclimate at the test facility for at least 1 wk.
Ages Male mice, 7–8 wks old at the start of testing
Feed & water Free access to food and water; specific feed information not provided
Housing Mice were housed 4 per cage
Photoperiod 12-h light/dark cycle (lights on/off at 0700/1900 h)
Temperature 21°± 1°C
Regulatory compliance All experimental procedures were approved by the University of Maryland in Baltimore, Animal Care and Use Committee, and were conducted in full accordance with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals.
