See Albers et al., 1999 for detailed description.
Mice were fed normal chow until 6-8 weeks of age when a
high-fat diet was administered (duration 6 weeks).
High Fat Diet Specifications (for details see Nashina et al. 1993):
(w/w) 15% dairy fat, 50% sucrose, 20% casein, 0.5% cholic
acid, 1.0% cholesterol, cellulose, vitamins, and minerals
Lipid and phospholipid transfer protein activity (PLTP) analyses:
Mice were fasted 4 h prior to blood collection (retro-orbital bleeding).
Samples from 8 mice of each strain (by
sex) were pooled. Lipid assessments were carried out in
duplicate using previously described methods (Albers et al., 1996).
PLTP-specific phospholipid transfer activity was assessed by the transfer
of [14C] phosphatidyl-choline from radiolabeled phospholipid liposomes
to a preparation of high density lipoprotein (HDL3).
