Inbred strains of mice of both genders were purchased from Jackson Laboratory (JAX®, Bar Harbor, ME). Mice were 26-67 wks of age on the day of sacrifice Free access to water and pelleted Teklad Rodent Diet 8604 (4.4% fat) Ad libitum Individually housed 23°C Shaved aspen chips 12h/12h light/dark cycle (6:00 AM to 6:00 PM) All protocols were reviewed and approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee of the Monell Chemical Senses Center
