Source of Mice: The Jackson Laboratory, Annex 9

Age (wks): 4 wks at shipping

Breeding: Founder progeny were mated with C57BL/6NJ mice to assess germline transmission of the null allele. Expansion breeding was used to establish a colony of mice heterozygous for the null allele and then intercrossing to generate homozygous mice, if possible.

Test Facility: The Jackson Laboratory, Building 50 G3A section 1-15; L health status

Feed: LabDiet 5K52 (6% fat), pelleted, provided ad libitum

Water: Acidified, provided ad libitum

Bedding: Aspen shavings

Cage Type, Distributor, Material, Size: Duplex cages (6 inches high)

Cage Density: 3-5 per cage

Cage Enrichment: Nestlets (if single); if over 2 wks single shepherd shacks

Temperature (°C): 20-22°C

Humidity (%): <60%

Light / Dark Cycle: 12:12h (lights on 0600h)

Welfare-Related Assessments: Small mice (<15g) or sick mice get food on floor or diet gel 76A

Care and Use Statement: All procedures and protocols were approved by The Jackson Laboratory Animal Care and Use Committee, and were conducted in compliance with the National Institutes of Health Guideline for Care and Use of Laboratory Animals.
