Project protocol: Urinalysis

Introduction

Urinalysis is performed to assess renal function.

Study design

  • Paradigm: Baseline study
  • Panel: Collaborative Cross
  • Number of strains: 14
  • Sex: Both
  • Age: 12-13 wks
  • Sample size: Five mice per sex from at least two litters
  • Number of cohorts: 1

    Procedure

    1. Set up the clinical chemistry analyzer and perform QC analysis of the control reagents in accordance with equipment guidelines.
    2. At least 70 µL urine is collected into a microcentrifuge tube (collection is in the morning).
    3. Samples are kept on ice until analysis.
    4. Samples are analyzed on day of collection, undiluted.
