Animal Documentation

Source of Mice: Mice carrying the human transgene for cholesterol ester transfer protein (CETP) were obtained from The Jackson Laboratory (Stock number 003904); mice carrying the human ApoE*3 Leiden variant were provided by Dr L. Havekes at Leiden University Medical Center, Leiden, The Netherlands. Common inbred and recombinant inbred of the Hybrid Mouse Diversity Panel were obtained from The Jackson Laboratory.

Age (wks): 23-25wks

Breeding: Transgenic animals were bred to produce a C57BL/6J strain carrying both human APOE*3Leiden and human transgenes. Males transgenic for both transgenes were bred to females of common inbred and recombinant inbred strains of the Hybrid Mouse Diversity Panel.
