Animal documentation

Source BXD mice were obtained directly or indirectly from Dr. Robert Williams at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (Memphis TN). Note that strain names are purposely not given a substrain designation, as this information was not provided to MPD.

Safe, type 113, sterilized, provided ad libitum

Housing
All mice were housed and bred in an SPF facility at the University of Bordeaux (Pessac, France). Two to four mice were housed in classical (nonventilated) clear plastic cages (162 x 406 x 176 mm) (Techniplast France, Lyon, France). Poplar wood shavings (Souralit, Girona, Spain) were used and no other bedding or nesting materials were provided.
Photoperiod 12:12h light:dark cycle (lights on at 0700h)
Time period Experiments were initiated in 2006 and completed in early 2013
