To investigate genes which control the components of body weight, a backcross of M16i and CAST/Ei was generated to identify the quantitative trait loci (QTLs) affecting body weight and organ weights. Mice were fed with Purina Laboratory Chow 5001 from weaning to death and weighed at different times. The organs were weighed when mice reached 12 weeks of age.
