NK cell-mediated resistance to viruses is subject to genetic control in humans and mice. To examine NK-mediated murine cytomegalovirus (MCMV) control in mice, an F2 intercross between NZW (MCMV resistance strain) and NZB (MCMV nonresistance strain) were generated to identify the loci affecting early MCMV control and enhancing viral resistance. 183 F2 mice were tested and the anlysis result showed a major X-linked locus affected antiviral responses.
