Acclimation & testing periods

Vendor
Inbred strains of C57BL/6J and C3HeB/FeJ mice were obtained from the breeding colonies of the GSF-National Research Center for Environment and Health; 129S2/SvPasCrl and BALB/cByJ mice were purchased from Charles River (Sulzfeld, Germany).

Ages
Mice were 4, 6, 8, 11, 13*, and 15 wks of age on the day of testing.

Ad libitum

Ad libitum

Housing
The mice were housed in the animal facilities of the GSF in groups of three to five animals

Bedding
Wood fibre (Altromin, Lage, Germany)

Photoperiod
12h/12h light/dark cycle

Health status
The use of animals was in accordance with the German Law of Animal Protection, the ARVO Statement for the Use of Animals in Ophthalmic and Vision Research, and the tenets of the Declaration of Helsinki.

* 13 wk data were accessioned as MPD measurements and are eligible for analysis with MPD tools.
