Backcrosses involving C3H/HeJBir and C57BL/6J inbred mouse strains homozygous for the disrupted Il10 gene were generated to identify QTLs involved in colitis susceptibility. Spleens were assessed in backcross progeny and the cecum and colon were scored for lesions based on severity, ulceration, hyperplasia, and percentage of area involved.
