An intercross of NZB/BlNJ and SM/J was generated to identify cholesterol gallstone susceptibility loci. F2 progeny were administered a high-fat (15%) diet for 18 wks and examined for gallstone formation. Gallstones were characterized qualitatively and quantitatively. Mice were fasted prior to sample collection. For detailed protocols see Lyons et al 2005.
