A backcross of NOD × (NOD × 129.H2g7) was generated to identify 129S1/SvJ non-MHC regions contributing to type 1 diabetes development. A genome scan for QTLs affecting clinical diabetes, age of diabetes onset, and insulitis severity was performed for detection of diabetes susceptibility loci in 310 female mice from this cross.
