The TallyHo (TH) mouse has many diabetes syndromes and this strain is an established model for non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) research. To identify the QTLs linked to hyperglycemia, the male progeny obtained from backcrosses between C57BL/6J and TH, CAST and TH were used to do genetic analysis. This is the backcross data of C57BL/6J and TH strain. A genome-wide scan revealed three QTLs linked to hyperglycemia and one major QTL was mapped to chromosome 19. Additionally, gene–gene interactions contributing to hyperglycemia were also observed from the data analysis. For detailed protocols see Kim et al 2005.
