Purpose: To characterize MRL/MpJ-Faslpr/J mice after weaning to 24 wks of age. MRL/MpJ mice were also tested as controls. Per-animal data are available in the download file.

Methods

Diet administration: All mice were fed LabDiet 5K52 formulation (6% fat by weight) from weaning at 3 wks of age to 24 wks of age.

Body weight: Weekly body weights were measured from male and female mice of both strains.

Hematology: Beginning at 6 weeks of age and every two weeks afterward, submandibular blood was collected into EDTA-coated microtainers from the same 10 MRL-lpr and 5 MRL/MpJ mice per sex, and analyzed using a Siemens Advia 2120 hematology analyzer.

Clinical chemistry: Beginning at 10 weeks of age and every two weeks afterward, an additional aliquot of blood from the same mice was processed to serum to measure creatinine (via the enzymatic method) and blood urea nitrogen using a Beckman Coulter AU680 chemistry analyzer.

Urinalysis: Starting at 5 weeks of age, at least 50 µL of urine was collected every other week from a separate group of 10 MRL-lpr and 5 MRL/MpJ mice per sex to measure creatinine (via the Jaffe method) and albumin, using a Beckman Coulter AU680 chemistry analyzer.
