Acclimation and testing periods

Vendor	Mice were obtained at 6 wks of age from The Jackson Laboratory JAX® (Bar Harbor, ME)
Ages	6-8 wks
Duration	1-3 weeks in conventional, non-barrier facility at VA Medical Center, Portland Oregon USA
Feed	Purina 5001 bought locally; ad libitum
Water	Tap; ad libitum, except when ethanol was substituted for water
Housing	4 mice per cage, separated by sex and strain in clear polycarbonate/ polysulfone cages (28 x 18 x 13 cm)
Bedding	1/4 inch Bed-o-cob
Photoperiod	12 h on (0600 h) 12 h off ; lights on at 0600
Temperature	21 ± 2.0°C
Health status	Mice were reported in excellent health
