To study the genetic basis of hypertension (high blood pressure) and identify the genes that cause common forms of hypertension, eight F2 intercross with 2,577 male mice was generated to perform QTL analyses of blood pressure. The F2 population was produced from 14 inbred strains (129, A, D2, AKR, NZW, BTBR, SWR, C3H, KK, FVB, RIII, SJL, PL and CBA) and tail-cuff blood pressure was measured when mice were 8 weeks old. For detailed protocols see Feng et al 2009.
