An investigation of capacity to regulate kilocalorie intake. Animals were presented with 9 different sucrose concentrations using 2-bottle 24-hr preference test while controlling for liquid bottle positions, sucrose concentration gradient effects, and overall caloric intake in the form of sucrose or chow. Each mouse ingestive behavior was evaluated at baseline and following 9 incremental changes in sucrose concentration in drinking water.

Procedures conducted:
• intake monitoring  Food, caloric, water intake. Baseline and with sucrose (several concentrations). 24h test.

Mice: inbred   12 strains   ♂   age 13-17wks   1 experimental group
