F1 crosses were produced between male C57BL/6J mice heterozygous for the null allele of Tcf7l2 and wild-type females from 30 inbred laboratory strains. This gene is among the most strongly associated and best replicated genetic risk factors for type 2 diabetes. It has also been associated with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. The generalizability of Tcf7l2 +/- physiological and behavioral phenotypes was evaluated using these 30 genetic backgrounds (see Sittig1). This project (Sittig3) contains data for the +/+ littermate controls. Data for +/+ and +/- littermates are summarized graphically here.

Procedures conducted:
• body weight 
• open field test  Locomotor and exploratory behavior. 30 min test.
• fear conditioning test  Contextual fear, cued fear.
• acoustic startle test  Acoustic startle response, prepulse inhibition.
• forced swim test  Immobility time. 6 min test.
• metabolic panel  Glucose (blood). Before and after 16h fast.
