An intercross of 513 F(2) progeny between the SM/J x NZB/BlNJ inbred mouse strains was generated to identify QTLs that are involved in the weight of four fat pads: mesenteric, inguinal, gonadal, and retroperitoneal. Mice were administered a high fat (15%) diet from 8 to 24 wks of age (16 wks on high fat diet). For a detailed protocol see Stylianou et al 2006.
