Male C57BL/6J mice carrying the dominant human transgenes for ApoE*3 Leiden variant and CETP were crossed with females of approximately 100 inbred strains from the Hybrid Mouse Diversity Panel (HDMP). At the age of 8 weeks, F1 progeny carrying both transgenes were placed on a high-fat diet supplemented with 1.0% cholesterol. Test mice were euthanized at approximately 24 weeks of age, and the lesion area in the proximal aorta was assessed.

Experimental groups in this study:
• high-fat high-cholesterol diet

Procedures conducted:
• histopathology  Aortic lesion size after 16 wks on high-fat diet.

Mice: HMDP hAPOE and hCETP transgenic   103 strains   ♀♂   age 23-25 wks   1 experimental group
