To understand the genetic architecture of complex polygenic traits, an F2 intercross between strain M16i (high weight gain) and L6 (low weight gain) were generated to identify the QTLs affecting body weight growth, body composition and reproduction. Mice were fed Purina Mouse Chow 5015 from mating through weaning of pups at 3 weeks, and Purina Laboratory Chow 5001 was provided after weaning. Mice were weighed at 3, 6, and 10 wks of age. The organs were weighed when mice reached 70 days of age. For detailed protocols see Rocha et al 2004.
