Purpose: To identify and characterize primary mammary tumor latency, severity and metastasis in transgene positive (MMTV-PyMT) F1 virgin female progeny of different inbred strains of mice. FVB/N-Tg(MMTV-PyMT)634Mul/J males were bred to females of various inbred strains. F1 transgenic females were analyzed. Primary tumors were noted and confirmed; mice were analyzed after 40 days (aged to permit metastatic progression). Metastases were scored from 9 viewing fields per animal; metastases (number and area) and total lung area are reported as an average over these fields. |
