Diet effects on plasma lipids and susceptibility to atherosclerosis (pathogen-free conditions).

Data are available for mice on a 6% fat diet (LabDiet 5K52) and for mice on a high (15%) fat atherogenic diet.

Multiple trait measurements in 43 inbred mouse strains capture the phenotypic diversity characteristic of human populations. J Appl Physiol. 2007 Jun;102(6):2369-78. There have been 4 updates or corrections to the dataset since it was first released in May, 2003

Mice were housed in a barrier facility during the acclimation and testing periods. No pathogens were detected during this time. Pathogen-accelerated atherosclerosis was not observed in these studies in contrast to a similar study conducted in a non-barrier facility (Paigen1).

Non-HDL values were computed by MPD (CHOL minus HDLC). Negative non-HDL values (possible due to differences in assay procedures) were adjusted to zero per the investigators. Fold change values were computed by MPD (when denominator = 0, fold change set to n/a).

Please note. Some strain means have N < 3 animals (click for table).

Some measurements were derived by MPD staff, based on supplied data (click for list).
