To study causative genetic variations that underlie the complex adult traits, QTL analyses were conducted in 4-way cross population between inbred strains BALB/cJ and C57BL/6J, C3H/HeJ and DBA/2J. Two data sets have been used in the research. The first one was a modest-sized population of 505 female mice, the 2nd one was merged from the initial population and a replicate population. For detailed protocols see the publication of Burke et al (2012).
