Diet preference: Sucrose intake in males of 12 inbred strains of mice   (2006)

 

Acclimation and testing periods

Ages	Males 12 wks
Feed	Initially, each animal was provided with a pre-weighed ration (~20 g) of Purina Mouse chow (5.3 kcal/g)
Water	Two calibrated and preweighed (100 mL capacity, 0.1 g = 0.1 mL, Lab Products, Seaford, DE) sipper tubes each filled with water (~40 mL each)
Bedding	Wood shavings
Housing	All mice were individually housed in plastic "tub" cages (30 cm x 20 cm x 15 cm) with a stainless steel grid lid
Photoperiod	12-h light/12-h dark cycle with lights off at 2000 h
Temperature	22 °C
Health status	All procedures were approved by the Queens College Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee
