To study the relationship between protein tau (the axonal microtubule stabilizing protein) and Dab1 (a cytoplasmic adapter protein), a Dab1-deficient intercross between BALB/cByJ and C57BL/6J was generated to identify the QTLs that modulate tau phosphorylation. Only the Dab1-/- homozygous mice were tested for tau phosphorylation level. For detailed protocols, see Brich et al 2003.
